Polls show Benjamin Netanyahu's opposition Likud party leading over Barak's Labor and the ruling Kadima party of Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni (Source: Bloomberg.com).
At least nine rockets and mortars were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, injuring two Israeli soldiers and one civilian, an army spokesman said, speaking anonymously according to regulation.
The "response to the rocket fire on our forces and citizens will be harsh, and it will be disproportionate," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said today at the start of a weekly cabinet meeting, in comments broadcast on Army Radio. One rocket narrowly missed a kindergarten, the army said.
