14/01

Likud party chairman Benjamin Netanyahu said on a visit that he made to Ashdod that he realizes the importance of building a public hospital in the region.

This is a subject that has been under discussion for more than seven years. "What was realized in "Operation Cast Lead' is that a sizeable portion of Israel's population lives in the settlements around Gaza and within missile range.. We have to take care of the home-front, and that the endless discussions around the building of a hospital in Ashdod have to be resolved. Nearly a quarter of a million people will now have a hospital. We will invest every effort to see that it gets built", pledged Netanyahu. In January 2002 the Knesset first decide to build a hospital in Ashdod which was supposed to be completed in five years.
