While missiles were falling on the city of Ashdod, Benjamin Netanyahu paid a visit to encourage the city's residents. After a visit to the local recently-established hospital, he received a briefing at a kindergarten which had suffered a direct hit but luckily was empty at the time.

From there Netanyahu continued on to visit a family of immigrants from Ethiopia whose home was damaged by a Grad missile. "With G-d's help, you will live here for many years in peace and security" said Netanyahu to the mother Sarah. Alli Admaso, the Likud party's immigrant representative accompanying Netanyahu, asked her: "Are you afraid?" The mother answered, "We're only human but in the end, we will overcome".

Gadi Yaberken, head of the Ethiopian immigrant section of the Likud election staff, added: "As we see, the Grads don't differentiate between new immigrants and old-time residents. We are all one people, united behind the IDF".

After surveying the site where the missile fell, Netanyahu turned to his companions: "Just think. You're sitting in your home and all of sudden, a missile . It's unbelievable".

At an improvised pres conference after the visit, Netanyahu was photographed with the family's six year old son. He said to the reporters: He's not interested in politics. He just wants to play with his friends. And he says he's not afraid. Turning to the child, Netanyahu said: " And I want you to really not be afraid. I want you and your brother to be able to play soccer outside safely - and don't forget to invite me."
