Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Palestinian militants launched their biggest rocket barrage on southern Israel in at least six months as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's government warned that its patience is running out.
About 70 rockets and mortar shells have been fired at Israel since midnight local time, an army spokesman said by telephone, adding that it was the largest assault since a cease-fire with Hamas began in June.
Palestinian rocket attacks have been growing since the truce expired Dec. 19. While Israel has reacted with air strikes, Olmert's cabinet, divided on how hard to press Hamas militarily, has held back from larger actions.
