Who will be the chairman of the 18th Knesset? The Likud is not waiting for the day following the elections, and has already begun trying to sense within them who will fill the senior position. It seems that three Knesset members are likely to contend for the role: Yuli Edelstein, Moshe Kahlon, and Michael Eitan.

Knesset member, Edelstein, announced that he will contend for the position, on the condition that the 16th Knesset chairman, Reuven Rivlin, does not. Rivlin, who was elected to the fourth place on the Likud list, aspires to be senior minister in the government, and according to his close associates, he has received assurances on this matter from Likud chairman, Benjamin Netanyahu. In such a case, Edelstein, who was elected to the 12th place on the Likud list, will compete for the position of chairman of the Knesset.
