Likud Party leader Benjamin Netanyahu will not turn over land to terrorists and endanger our security - unlike the current Government leadership. We need to change the terms of the international political discussion which often assumes that Israel will eventually return to the 1967 borders."
"Such an approach by Netanyahu when he was Prime Minister significantly reduced the dangers of the Oslo process which he inherited," he explained. "The vast majority of Israelis fully understand the importance of keeping Jerusalem unified under Israeli sovereignty," stated Leiter, who has played a key role in "One Jerusalem," the non-partisan organization that advocates for the capital city.
On the economy, Leiter, who was Netanyahu's Chief of Staff at the Finance Ministry, said that the reforms he helped enact were essential to prevent national bankruptcy. By cutting Government spending and initiating privatization in the face of significant political risks, "Netanyahu demonstrated leadership and reinvigorated the economy for years," he said. In order to stimulate the economy further and create jobs, another 40 government companies should be privatized, bureaucracy reduced, and competition created for monopolies such as the ports and Israel Electric.
Leiter also said "there is no reason for more than 90 percent of land to be controlled by the Government and handed out to oligarchs for the benefit of their companies." In addition, Leiter also advocated reform of the political system to make it more accountable to the voters, supporting election of half the Knesset in local districts.
