Yechiel Leiter
An Anglo resident of Judea and Samaria, Yechiel Leiter's career has expressed a life-long commitment to Jewish and Zionist values and to building the State of Israel. He served as Deputy Director General of Israel's Ministry of Education where he was centrally involved in the planning of a major overhaul of the educational system, and as Chief of Staff to Benjamin Netanyahu in the Ministry of Finance, taking an active role in the dramatic economic reform program that revolutionized Israel's economy. Leiter is currently an analyst at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. He has a law degree, an MA in International Relations and is an ordained Rabbi.
Leiter believes the future of the country must be carried on the shoulders of a Likud Party that is committed to Israel's security and rights-based diplomacy, a strong economy, excellence in secular and Jewish education, and that will set a new standard for clean government. Leiter has been active in Zionist educational outreach, the creation of new Jewish settlement throughout Israel, and aliyah. He was spokesperson for the YESHA Council, and was one of the founding families in Hevron, traveling frequently to the United States raising money to rebuild the ancient city. He served as a combat medic in the IDF and participated in Operation Peace for Galilee.
Tal Brody
Best known for leading the Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Team to its historic win over powerful CSKA Moscow in the 1977 Euroleague basketball semifinal - a victory seen as Israel's defeat of the Soviet Union, which armed and supported many of its enemies during the Cold War, Tal Brody is originally a New Jersey native. "We are on the map and we are staying on the map, not only in sports, but in everything," Brody famously said in his American-accented Hebrew after the win.
As a member of Knesset, Brody would advocate issues close to his heart, namely sports, aliyah and social issues. Brody has had a successful business career and has represented Israel through serving as a spokesperson for the United Jewish Appeal.
Yossi Fuchs
A lawyer specializing in constitutional law, Yosi Fuchs is running for the reserved seat in Judea and Samaria. As founder and leader of the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel, Yossi has worked for years to strengthen Jewish settlement in all areas of Israel, including Samaria and the Golan. He also has helped the residents of Gush Katif obtain government benefits they were promised after the disengagement.
Fuchs would use his legal experience to promote a Basic Law in the Knesset limiting the Supreme Court's power to intervene on issues relating to the Jewish character of the State. He would also promote national religious concerns, and advocate for clean government. Fuchs is deeply committed to the Likud's traditional Zionist values.
