HISTORY OF LIKUD ANGLOS

Likud Anglos was founded in early 2007 by Ari Harow and other dedicated activists, who wanted to provide a permanent voice for the English speaking community within Likud. A kick-off event at Likud headquarters in March, 2007 brought together 200 Anglos with Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu, and several Likud MKs, including Yuval Steinitz, Yisrael Katz, Gideon Sa'ar and Limor Livnat. A festive lunch was held in June, 2007 in Tel Aviv with Anglo representatives from all parts of the country, as well as from outside Israel, who were addressed by Netanyahu, Steinitz and Livnat.

Beginning in the fall of 2007, local chapters of Likud Anglos were organized throughout Israel. To date, active chapters include Jerusalem, Ra'anana, Netanya, Haifa, Modi'in, Beit Shemesh and Tel Aviv. Twenty five local events featuring party leaders have been held by these chapters, attracting more than 1,500 people and more are scheduled on a regular basis. Featured MKs have included Yuval Steinitz, Gideon Sa'ar, Gilad Erdan, and Reuven Rivlin. Other notable speakers have included Zalman Shoval, Yosi Peled, Yechiel Leiter and Dan Diker.

In early 2008, a national steering committee was created, consisting of all the local chapter Chairs. Shalom Helman, who had served as Chair of the Jerusalem Chapter, was appointed National Director to build a national organization for Likud Anglos. In Spring, 2008 a national membership drive began and a national email newsletter was published. In September, 2008 the Likud Anglos website was launched.

Likud Anglos will:

Empower and unify the Anglo voice within Likud and Israel by educating and organizing Israelis with an Anglo background or perspective.

Build the Likud Party and extend its values through a national network of members who understand, assist and support Likud policies, agendas and candidates.

Make Israel's government, at all levels, more effective and worthy of trust.

Bring real change to Israel through our commitment to improve: our homeland, its democratic institutions and its Jewish values.

Who are Likud Anglos?

We are a group of dedicated English-speakers who see that Israel is in the midst of a severe leadership crisis.

We believe that only a coalition led by Likud can restore capable leadership to Israel, and return the Government to the voters

We have the support and encouragement of Likud Party Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu who understands the important contribution of Anglos.

What are Likud AnglosTrying to Achieve?

Information: We will provide timely information in English about Likud and the poltical process, as well as access to Likud's top leadership.

Issues: We will promote crucial issues, such as a secure Israel, Zionist values, clean government, and reform of the economy, the electoral system and our schools.

Influence: As our core of activisits and registered Likud members grows, we will have a growing impact on the party.and in the next general elections.
