The poet of the book of Psalms wrote: "G-d, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in things too great or in things too wonderful for me". My friends, members of the Knesset, it is not with the joy of a winner thatI stand here today, but witha heavy feeling of responsibility. These are not regulardays. I am asking for your trustat a time of world crisis thathas not been seenin years. I stand withconcern, but at the same timewith hope and faith, but mainly with a feeling of serious consideration in these times of tribulation. Israel faces two enormous tests:economyand security.
From this stage, I would like to send my warm greetings to the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, and to the Egyptian people. The peace between Israel and Egypt changed history and proved that the swords can indeed be beaten into plowshares
